Although, almost just as simple as plugging it in and turning a dial, there are a few tips on using, caring for and cleaning the Nutrimill Grain Grinder that I would like to share. The Nutri Mill is the most efficient and useful mill for the price. It is quick and easy to use and offers the home milling aficionado convenience and variety. From the greenhorn to the expert fresh, there will always be some learned oddities that are particular to using any new home mill. The Nutri Mill is no exception, no matter how easy it is to operate.
Cleaning When cleaning the Nutrimill Wheat Grinder, it is tempting to put it in the dishwasher. I suggest that this be avoided. Although very durable, depending upon the heat of the water and/or drying coils the dishwasher this could warp the hopper or lid and keep the seal from working properly. Most of the time, the L'Equip Nutrimill can simply be wiped off with a dry towel. It does not need soap and water every time its cleaned. I have found that the exhaust cup and the little black filters can usually be put in the dishwasher with out any problem.Be sure to clean the entire Nutri Mill by dry dusting on a regular basis. The area above the hopper and the shoot should be dry dusted with each use. After the hopper and lid have been cleaned with soapy warm water and are dry, it is normal for them to be harder to place together again. This can be remedied by dusting the black seal with a bit of flour.

Care If by chance, the Nutri Mill hopper has already been run through the dishwasher and the seal is not working as well as before, there is a remedy. First, flour the seal as you normally would after it has dried from every washing and place it on the hopper. Do not put the black filter or exhaust cup in place. Warm your oven to 200 degrees fahrenheit. Place the container on a towel that is also on a cookie sheet making sure it sits level. Now place another towel on top and something oven proof to weight down the top until you see there is no space around the seal. We used bricks. Put that whole stack of items in the oven and turn it OFF. Leave it all until it is cooled. Within the next couple of uses, the seal should be back to working order.
Using Reading and following the manual completely is the first step to using and caring for the NutriMill. Next my suggestion would be to always be extra careful to check that the hopper is pushed all the way back to the YES indicator on the bottom of the unit when milling. Trust me; everyone from the beginner to the expert has forgotten to do this at some point. This seemingly tiny lapse of attention will result in a cloud of flour lofting to new heights throughout the kitchen. I have done this on more than one occasion and the clean up is no fun!
The Nutri Mill will mill at half speed. Likely this will extend the life of its motor. There is no need to run it on full throttle every time. When choosing the texture on the dial, simply watch your grains as they go down in the top of the mill for a while, if they seem to be going down quickly, you may want to adjust the texture to get finer flour. When milling legumes and grains together or multiple textures, the setting should be on the texture that allows the larger grains or legumes to go through unhindered.
The NutriMill has an obvious pitch change when the milling is complete. I like to turn the dial down to off as soon as I hear that pitch change and instantly unplug the Nutri Mill. By unplugging it, I make sure that any vibrations do not vibrate the dial back into the on location. This is just a little annoying, and not actually a problem. It is just something that Ive figured out how to avoid.
