The Movie-themed Birthday Party: A Fun Experience Every Child Should Have

By:

Few events are more exciting in a childs life than their own birthday. If it is a party they are looking forward to, the anticipation is amplified to overwhelming proportions. Make it a themed party and you just earned parent of the year.

An easy way to pull together a themed birthday shindig is to base it on a popular childrens film. Disney, superhero, and princess flicks are usually great places to start. Whatever cinema your munchkin is into, a related set of ready-made themed supplies probably exists to whisk away the pint-size partiers to movie land. These can be purchased online or at most party supply shops.

The Ready-Made Theme
A basic ready-made set should include the following elements: invitations, plates, cups, and napkins printed with characters or scenes from the movie. Often there are add-ons available that may include table covers, decorations, party favors, or even games and piatas. Important notes to include on the invitations, other than the basics, are if character-based costumes are expected and if all or part of the event will take place at a movie theater. If only a portion of the party will take place at a theater, there are the additional considerations of transporting the group to and from.

Sweet Treats
The cake is the cornerstone of the birthday feast, and the bigger, the bolder, the better. For a reasonable charge, your local grocers bakery should have a handful of treats to choose from with applicable designs. Also try to incorporate the theme into as many other dishes as possible. Were there certain foods depicted in the movie itself? This may be a great, relatively easy way to make the story come to life.

Games Galore
These basics are great for getting the party started, but how do you keep it going? Party games! Pin the Tail on the Donkey is a classic that you can modify to fit the occasion. How about Pin the Tiara on Princess Fiona or Pin the Nose on Shrek? The web has a wealth of game ideas specialized for every childrens movie. Crafts are another excellent way to keep little hands occupied and also allows each child to take home something unique.

Have you attended a themed childrens party? What made it enjoyable and what would you do differently? Consider these things when planning your kids special event. Whichever theme your child chooses, a little enthusiasm and creativity will make the event memorable for them and their friends.
