The Many Marketing Opportunities In Digital

By:

It seems every time one turns on their computer they are faced with a plethora of unbelievably creative digital marketing campaigns. This is of course especially true for those people who follow digital news. Many of the campaigns you read about, are built around simple concepts with a few objectives in mind. The first to engage their audience, the second being that the campaign becomes viral- and the way to make a campaign viral is by getting people to share it with everyone they know all over the web. So really the first needs to happen for the second to occur. If the content is engaging, and the incentive desirable, the likelihood is that it will spread.

A few brilliant campaigns recently launched include:

Mini Cooper: Mini Cooper are promising the 5-seconds of fame we're all waiting for. The idea launched in Berlin. A booth was set up and participants were given a pair of colourful headphones to wear. Their picture was snapped on a computer and within seconds they could see themselves on a Mini Cooper billboard across the street! Now the campaign is accessible to everyone around the world through their Facebook page. All you have to do is 'Like' their page, get your photo snapped and you'll be featured on the same billboard. The best part of all is that participants are entered into a draw to win a free Mini!

UNICEF: UNICEF has recently collaborated with Google Chrome to launch a very cool campaign called Donate A Word. The concept: It uses the spelling feature in Google Chrome to trigger donation prompts. Each misspelled word offers a 'donate this word option' when writers right-click the red underlined word to correct the spelling mistake. Writers are then taken through a donation process, after which the word will appear on a globally aggregated 'education' statement that is filled by the worlds most commonly misspelled words.

Sneakerpedia: Sneakerpedia is a website launched by Foot Locker, that is a pure tribute to peoples' love for cool kicks. It features a wide range of sneaker styles ranging from classic to outrageous, skater to basketball, old school to new style. The best part is that the site is almost altruistic in its objective. Foot Locker aren't trying to sell any pairs, this is not an ecommerce site at all. It's a hub where sneaker fans can view and upload their favourite pairs. One of the tricks to engaging readers is to be a valuable resource which seems to be exactly what sneakerpedia is.

These are just a few examples to get your creative juices flowing. It's difficult not to feel inspired by the genius behind these and other innovative digital campaigns.
