Having spent most of the last couple of months categorising somewhere in excess of 25,000 beauty products for a new beauty product price comparison website (that is entirely human edited), we've learnt quite a lot about the beauty products sector that we didn't know before we started this process.
It doesn't take long to discover just how many top quality beauty products are available to buy these days. Even when we cut our teeth in the beauty product sector back in the mists of time the choice was limited to the so-called "big" names and a few other brands that people in-the-know used and recommended to their inner circle.
However, as we stand on the cusp of the second decade of the 21st century the range of beauty products "out there" simply beggars belief. Brand after brand of fabulous products, carefully thought out to solve every beauty issue you've ever thought of (and many you've not even considered). Skincare ranges with proven results, make-up ranges packed full of the latest celebrity secrets.
There are an increasing number of what we refer to as "fusion" products, that effortlessly cross old boundries, like make-up that also provides tangible skin benefits and even SPF sun protection. Indeed, one of the hardest tasks we found was sometimes to figure out where to put a particular product, because it could do so many things.
Many of these fabulous products are wholly or partly made from organic or natural ingredients, and virtually every single beauty product these days is not tested on animals. A far cry from even just 20 years ago, and a great testiment to all those who have devoted (and continue to devote) their lifes to fighting for this worthy cause.
Secondly, there are a load of top beauty retailers around with stunning websites and low pricing on all top beauty products (making even some of the premium ranges pretty cheap beauty products in our view). Not only the likes Boots, Superdrug and the department stores (like House of Fraser), but also a range of websites that have been selling direct to customers for around a decade now. Sites which include Hqhair, Lookfantastic, and Beauty Expert. Some other top beauty product websites, like Feelunique have even begun to advertise on the television, which just goes to show how mainstream they've become.
Of course the one thing we've really noticed is that with all these incredible beauty products to chose from and all these amazing retailers to buy from, what you really need an unbaised and comprehensive beauty price comparison website. Now where can we find one of those...
