The holy city of the state of Punjab, Amritsar is home to the famous Sikh Gurdwara, the Golden Temple. The city is considered sacred and spiritual and is a major tourist and pilgrimage centre. This Gurdawara resembles the Golden Temple with the only difference being that it is made out of marble. Goindwal Sahib and Khadur Sahib are a few of the religious places of interest in Tarn Tara. The area was also the centre for Sikh extremists militancy during the 1980s and the early part of the 1990s. The main occupation of the people in this area is agriculture.
