One of the most important basic skills one should have to learn in playing softball is hitting. In spite of the difficulty learning the
softball hitting skill, the ability to hit perfectly will surely keep you in your team and during the actual game. Choosing the bat is also very important as your hitting rhythm depends on it. Avoid opting to very big or too heavy bats as these will badly affect your performance. Using such bats only put you to having a hard time hitting the ball, and may result to low speed shot or poor performance.
For you to be able to keep yourself running and playing for your team there are techniques you need to learn for
softball hitting.
Stance: There are various stances employed by different players. After all, there is no single perfect stance to employ anyway. Just make sure that you are in your most comfortable stance when doing it. Bend your knees in a relaxed posture. The weight of your body must be carried by your feet. Keep your feet not too far or too near each other, but just right. The expanse of your feet should only be more than your shoulders extent. This distance is considered the best stance. But then you have the right to find your feet to your very own comfortable stance.
Grip: Make sure that your grip to the bat is not too loose or too tight. You must grasp it at ease without being sloppy. Players who are right-handed must place their left hand at the bottom part of the bat while their right hand should be exactly above the left. Your left hand balances the bat while it is supported by your right. As you position your hands the right way, you will be to hold the bat properly and have greater control to swing it powerfully.
Stride: In softball hitting, right timing is very important in taking your step. There is a big effect of striding ahead of time or behind time. You must stay focus on the movement of the ball to facilitate right timing. You should weigh up your stance and stride accurately once the pitcher starts to throw the ball. Remember that proper discipline and coordination is important during your training in order for you to develop a good stride.
Swing: You should swing not just your hand but also your shoulder, arms, hips and trunk when preparing yourself to hit the ball. Good body coordination is created to these movements while it helps you to strike mightily. Once more, precise timing is essential to make a good swing. Swinging too early might only cause you lesser power hit. However, perfect timing brings your all your energy together to give an impressive hit full of speed and power.
These techniques or skills can be developed by every softball player to his own ability. Just dont ignore the importance of focus and always train yourself with discipline.
