But now the word tartan is more often used to denote a particular pattern of design where the bands with different colors will be arranged horizontally and vertically cutting through each other to create squares. Tartan fabric is not only uses in making tartan skirts or any other types of dresses. It is also used to make bed sheets, bed spreads and curtains. Tartan fabrics were used to make uniforms for the military. At that time the military was not a government owned one. It has been managed by various land lords and feudal lords. Tartan fabrics which were available only in woolen once are available in all types of clothes like cotton, terry cotton etc. At the same time the tartan skirts, which were once considered as the dress of the elite class has become uniform for lady staff in various organizations. The elegant and aristocratic look it provides will definitely attract the people. This will make their job easier. Knowing this psychology the management professionals have gone for tartan fabric as uniform in many business organizations. This has been made compulsory for the frontline marketing staffs who are dealing directly with the customers. Instead of a plain uniform, one with tartaric design is more attractive and gives a decent look too. This will certainly reflect the image of the company and its products and thus they can boost their brand images too.
