The History Of Puma King Football Boots

The Puma King Boot has been an iconic part of the Puma Collection the first King boots were made in 1968 as part of a tribute to Eusbio da Silva Ferreira, commonly known as Eusbio. He won the 1966 FIFA Golden Boot award scoring nine goals during the tournament. Eusbio worked with Puma to develop a signature football boot which debuted two years later. The Puma football boot featured soft leather with increased ankle protection and excellent ball control. The Puma King Boot has been worn by several other notable players such as Pele of Brazil and Maradona of Argentina it was worn by legends and became a legend itself.

In 2008, Puma celebrated the 40th birthday of the launch of the King Boot and made a special anniversary limited edition football boot called King XL. Puma continued to release newer versions of the King range celebrating great soccer legends such as the Italian, Vittorio Pozza (Puma King XL Italia) and Diego Maradona (Puma King Diego Finale football boot). This edition was released to commemorate the 50th birthday of Maradona and was created in the colours of the Argentina National football team.

The latest in Pumas range of legendary football boots is the King Finale. This boot was inspired by Pumas 1986 Mexico Finale football boot, but has all the latest improvements with technology and innovation to suit todays game demands. The King Finale has an upper made from premium ultra soft K leather, which makes the boot more flexible than the King XL. The King Finale has a fold over tongue that is kept in place by a hook and loop fastener, providing a cleaner kicking area and an improved pressure distribution surface. The Finale football boot also features a vamp toe area that gives players total control over the ball. It is engineered from high density silicon, which provides the heel counter with more protection and stability. With increased cushioning under the heel, this improves shock absorption for enhanced comfort. The King Finale also uses Puma AptoLast technology, which conforms to the natural contours of the foot for a snug fit.
