Weddings are the integral affair in a person’s life. It is quite true that weddings can change our life if we get married to the right person. Asian weddings are known for their grandness. The Hindu Shaadi Ceremony is one of the most reputed wedding ceremonies in the world. A Hindu shaadi is done very religiously. So, the first step involves matching of the horoscopes for both boy and girl.

Once they match, the astrologer can then proceed forward to provide the right shaadi date as per the planetary positions. Now, it is the discretion of both the families whether the shaadi should be arranged in the house of the bride or in a marriage hall. The seating arrangement of the wedding depends on the wishes of the bride’s parents. The guests can be seated on the ground or chairs can be provided for a more elaborate arrangement. Hindu marriages are lavish affairs and as such, the dining facilities for the guests in the marriage ceremony are very detailed consisting of snacks to most sumptuous dishes. Almost 15 rituals are part of the Hindu Wedding Ceremony. The groom provides the bride with a sari to be worn during the pheras. The bride’s family brings the rest of the bride’s clothes for the shaadi ceremony only. The bride and her future husband will exchange garlands of flowers. The bride and the groom during the course of the marriage take seven rounds around a pot of fire whereas a priest seated near it recites the auspicious wedding hymns. The priest makes the bride and the groom, offer some food to the Gods during the hymns to get their blessings for the marriage. A symbolic necklace called mangalsutra, which the groom makes the bride wear, symbolizes the culmination of the marriage. He also applies vermillion to the bride’s head. After the ceremony is over, bride and her husband stand and touch the feet of their parents and elderly guests to get their blessings. At the end of the marriage, the bride leaves with the groom and his parents for his abode. She throws back puffed rice with her hands as she leaves. The bride also makes the groom consume some honey and yogurt for her start of a new life with him.

After the ceremony ends, the bride visits the house of her father with the groom for the initial dinner ceremony. Hindu marriage ceremonies are held so beautifully these days with sangeet and mehendi ceremonies also celebrated in banquet halls. The groom also celebrates a bachelor’s party laden with drinks with his friends. Hindu marriage ceremony lasts for 3-4 days starting from the mehendi ceremony at the bride’s place.
