The Harley Quinn Action Figures

As far as action figures go, the Harley Quinn action figure is a winner in my eyes.

Which raises the question really...

Are action figures really toys?

They're not like dolls or toy soldiers. You don't pretend they're fighting each other do you?

Most of the people that I know simply collect these figurines and the Harley Quinn action figure is no different.

They'd have her in the original box, which by the way is designed to show the model so the manufacturers expect them to be shown and not handled

Anyway. Who is Harley Quinn?

In short she's the girlfriend of Batman's nemesis, the Joker. Well, sort of girlfriend. The Joker isn't really too interested in women, he's too busy being crazy and trying to kill people in more and more insane ways.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, born into a family of criminals, Harley tries to escape her upbringing but falls at the last.

She became a doctor and went to work at Arkham Asylum and, for some unexplainable reason, fell in love with the Joker and helped him escape from the asylum.

She eventually goes insane and starts wearing a jester's costume and becomes Harley Quinn. Obviously a play on the word 'Harlequin'.

She most recently surfaces in the Batman: Arkham Asylum game where she has a starring role. She has a brand new costume based on a nurse's uniform. She has her hair in blonde bunches and doesn't fail to look dangerous and crazy.

Harley is based on a real person. Slightly. Arleen Sorkin originally voiced a female sidekick of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. This character was the prototype of HQ as we know her now. Strangely enough the creators of the show based much of her personality on Arleen and then, presumably, added a whole lot of crazy.

The action figure that came out of the game Batman: Arkham Asylum pictures her in the nurse's outfit, wielding a cane and a gun.

It's quite an intricate piece and this holds up my theory that nobody will actually ever play with an item like this, it's a collector's piece. And a very nice one at that.

The Harley Quinn action figure will make an outstanding addition to your collection if:

You collect Batman figures
You collect superhero figures
You are a fan of the video game.
