The Employment Screening Process

By:

When you are searching for employment, there are several prerequisites that you must fulfill. These vary with the nature of the job, the location, as well as the personal preferences of the employer. Some employers may require a professional degree, while others may prefer candidates with a higher level of experience regardless of the educational qualifications. In any case, the candidates are always required to go through a screening test before they can be deemed fit for the job.

The screening process not only involves educational and professional information, but also various aspects of personal history. The screening process usually takes place in two parts. In the first test, the candidate is required to present personal details including biography and educational background. The candidate will also be checked for any criminal records, for the employer would not want to take any risk or responsibility for future acts. For instance, the employer will get any drug abuse and sexual harassment records before further processing of the candidate's application. However important this screening test may be, it does not give ample information for the employer to judge the aptitude and technical abilities of the concerned person. For this purpose, most employers require an additional screening test before any applicant can be chosen.

Finding employment is not an easy task. You will have to go through several legal procedures in order to satisfy the employer about your credibility and reliability. The second screening test usually consists of knowledge related to the industry you are applying in. You need to have done thorough prior research to pass this test. You may even consult some specialists in the area of expertise you are applying to, who can give you tips on the kind of screening test you need to take for that particular post. Such a test will be better able to judge your capabilities concerning the relevant post.

The specialist you consult will have comprehensive information regarding the exact skills required for each kind of employment. Once you have applied for the job, you will be selected only if you are the closest to fitting the criteria for the job, relative to other applicants. This screening will first test some basics in Math, English and general knowledge, while the second part of the test will require you to answer some technical questions on the basis of which the employer gets to decide whether you will be able to perform the job functions effectively.

The application procedure for any kind of employment depends entirely on the preferences of the employer, since he/she has the power to amend the requirements for each job opening in the company.
