The Definition Of A Ltl Delivery Service

By:

When it comes to shipping packages around the state of Florida or in the city of Miami itself, there are a number of different courier services and options. There are actually several different types of courier services and shipping companies, and the one you want to use really depends on several variables. These variables may include things like the size of your package, how many packages you'll be shipping at once, how often you plan on using the courier service, the weight of your package, and more. When looking at shipping services, you may hear many different terms and acronyms, including FTL and LTL, which is less common.

FTL stands for 'Full Truck Load,' meaning that the truck is carrying as much freight as it can. LTL, on the other hand, is 'Less than Truck Load,' meaning the packages the truck is carrying do not fill up the entire space. FTL shippers are those who ship enough fright to require a full semi-trailer to transport their items. If you won't be doing that, you'll need a LTL service. In fact, if you're shipping a very small amount of goods, you may even want to split your packages among several smaller carriers.

LTL loads are usually measured in weight. The range is quite large (a LTL load can be as small as 100 pounds or as large as 10,000 pounds). This is because LTL shippers have to accommodate everything that is slightly too large for a small Miami courier service but not quite large enough to take up a full semi-truck load. There are many different things that fall into this range. LTL carriers are often used by small businesses that just don't have large enough shipments to need FTL services but have outgrown the smaller courier services.

There is one downside to LTL shipments: they can often take longer to reach their destination than FTL shipments. This is because a LTL truck arrives at the pickup location on schedule and unloads its deliveries. These deliveries are then taken to a shipping terminal to be sorted. They're then taken by another large truck that goes to another terminal where the packages are sorted into smaller trucks that deliver them to the listed address. Your packages may be shifted to a number of different trucks in transit, while FTL shipments are more likely to remain with the same truck throughout the entire route.
