The Dangers Of Cooking Using Fire

By:

Whether you have a large kitchen or a small one, you could have a fire happen in the blink of an eye. If you do a lot of cooking of exotic foods, like some that require using flammable liquids like wine or a cooking torch, you will really have to be very careful because you will be starting a fire in a dish or a pan intentionally. All it would take is for someone to run into or bump into you to have this fire land where you might not want it too. An elegant dish could turn into a disaster in more ways than one.

Most of the time this kind of cooking is done in a restaurant. But some of you might like to experiment with different kinds of foods at home. If you do not watch what you are doing really closely, the fire could get out of your control before you know it. It could start on fire so fast that you jump and throw or drop this burning dish or pan before you even think about what you are doing. This food item will keep burning because of the flammable fluid that is burning on it; starting catching fire to other things it might land on. If you are going to try to cook any foods that require fire, you should have a fire extinguisher close at hand.

Cooking any food in your kitchen could start on fire. Never leave something cooking unattended and do not let small children around food that is cooking either. Small children could knock whatever you are cooking off the stove or pull the cord of a crock pot, electric skillet, or your deep fryer over onto themselves. If this happens, the small child could get very severe burns. You should clean up really good each time you cook to remove any build-up of grease or spilled foods. If your telephone should ring, have someone else answer it for you or just let it ring instead of leaving cooking food unattended. Keep a phone near you in the kitchen so you can always avoid the temptation to leave it.

If for some reason you do end up with a fire in your kitchen, you should have a fire extinguisher handy always. Never keep it so close to the stove that you cannot reach it for the fire. If the fire gets completely out of control, get everyone out of the home and call the fire department. Call your insurance agent also to tell them about this problem and have them meet you at your home. As soon as you have filed your insurance claim, you might need the help of a fire damage company to get things back to normal.
