It is one of the most populous cities in the country with a total population of about 7 million people. It is the largest city in the whole of Colombia.

Bogota is situated in the west of Savannah of Bogota. It has a good terrain with various bodies of water surrounding it. Even though it rests in what they call as savannah, Bogota is actually a high plateau that can found in the Andes Mountains. Settlers living here enjoy a relatively cool temperature. Most of the time the average temperature in Bogota range anywhere from 3C to 25C, with January being the coldest and March the warmest and driest month. Rainy season takes place during the months of April, May, September, October, and November.

The city is made up of 20 localities or districts that have their own network of neighborhoods. Families belonging in the upper class of the society all live in the north and northeast part of Bogota, while those in the lower class reside in the south and southeast. Bogota is an urbanized city. It has all the structures, buildings, wide roads, and more. Some of the major roads in the city include the following: Avenida Boyaca, Autopista Sur, Norte-Quito-Sur, Autopista Norte-Avenida Caracas, Avenida Suba, Avenida Circunvalar, Avenida El Dorado, Avenida de las Americas, Avenida Ciudad de Cali, and Avenida Primero de Mayo.

Bogota takes pride in the proper enforcement of the law in the city that reduced crimes and violence. They have the "communidad segura", otherwise known as their security policy that protects the citizens and visitors as well.

When it comes to economic thrusts, Bogota plays a very vital role in all the business transactions and trades of Colombia since the city is their main industrial and economic center. In the whole of Latin America, Bogota ranks as the fourth most influential financial center in the region in 2008. They mostly rely in their importation business. The said industry thrives in Bogota because of the easy access to other countries and nearby cities. Bogota is strategically located in the center, thus this paves the way for easy transportation of their goods. Some of the other vital industries in the city are the chemical, textile, pharmaceutical, publishing, food, and metalworking industries.

Many travelers will marvel at what Bogota has to offer. The city has reputable hotel chains, various shopping malls, and important landmarks and tourist spots. You can travel to the botanical garden, the national observatory, the planetarium, Jose Celestino Mutis, the Maloka, to the Colpatria observation point, and the La Candelaria that is known for being the historical district of the city.

For the food lovers, there are many good places to eat out and dine in Bogota. You might want to pay a visit to any of the following: En Obra, Leo Cocina y Cava, Criterion, and Nazca. Shopping malls and market too are aplenty.

Going around the city will not be a problem since Bogota has good roads and streets. The city also has their own rapid transit system called the TransMilenio, which allows fast access in and around Bogota. The El Dorado International Airport provides all the domestic and international flight needs of the people in Bogota.
