Cake toppers are used on wedding cakes. A wedding cake is one of the traditions that date back to the Roman Empire. It is usually served at wedding receptions and the ceremony of cutting the cake is also done at birthday parties. In the early roman era, the groom would usually break a piece of loaf on the head of the bride as sign of the male dominance. Later this bread transformed many changes, eventually becoming a sweet recipe.

In the early days of the United Kingdom, the cakes were made from the fruit cakes. Now the cakes usually are made of vanilla sponge or the chocolate sponge. Some people even prefer carrot cake.

Cakes that are made for weddings can range up to 3 and sometimes to 5 tiers when it comes to height. The royal wedding cakes are very heighted and have elaborate cake toppings.

The cake toppers come in all shapes and sizes. For the kids, the tops are usually of cartoon characters, they are also given with frostings. The trend of wedding toppers is now very popular as well, some very funny toppers are available to suit your style and needs. Cupcakes can also be taken as cake toppers.
