The Best Oil Paintings Of Jan Vermeer

Jan Vermeer or Johannes Vermeer van Delft (1632-1675) was a talent Dutch Baroque painter who painted life scenes in his Oil Paintings. It was his main topic for long time. Actually, he created some of the most exquisite paintings in Western art. All Vermeer's works are admired for the sensitivity with which he rendered effects of color and light and for the poetic quality of his images. Jan Vermeer is very recognized in Europe for its majestic works. Jan was the second child of Reynier Janszoon Vos and Digna Baltens and from an early age he had inclination for art.

Vermeer married Catharina Bolnes in 1653 and had fifteen children, unfortunately, four of them died for diverse reasons. There is no record about his training as painter; however, Jan Vermeer had influence of Carel Fabritius, Leonaert Bramer and Dirck van Baburen. After a long artistic career, Jan Vermeer is one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Vermeer didn't paint a lot of Oil Paintings during his life. Jan Vermeer created transparent colors by applying paint to the canvas in loosely granular layers, this technique was denominate pointill.
