The Basics Of The Ovarian Cyst

By:

Ovarian cyst is a well-known disease of women today. You must be aware of it because even if the majority of ovarian cysts are harmless, some could threaten your health and in extreme cases may also lead to death (even though this is rare). An ovarian cyst is a tiny fluid-filled sac akin to a blister which develops in the ovaries of a woman. All women are prone to have ovarian cysts during their reproductive years.

Nearly all of the cysts formed are considered benign; they are not harmful. They may disappear plus heal on their own in a matter of weeks without undergoing any type of cysts treatment.

There are numerous types of ovarian cysts namely; functional cysts, endometrioma cysts, dermoid ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian disease and cystadenoma cysts. Functional cysts are just normal cysts which are formed during ovulation period; these could affect women in their early age but this ovarian cyst often disappears within two to three menstrual cycles. Endometrioma cysts are likewise called chocolate cysts of endometriosis which are developed when a tissue similar to lining of uterus connects to ovaries. Dermoid cysts are filled with different types of tissues including hair or skin. Polycystic ovarian disease is cysts that are formed from the buildup of follicle cysts which causes the ovaries to thicken. Cystadenoma cysts are developed from cells on the outer surface of the ovary.

Often times an ovarian cyst has no indications. If there are any signs it could lead to a dull pain or a pressure in abdomen. The pain or pressure is caused by certain factors like size and bursting of an ovarian cyst which normally causes irritation to abdominal tissue, which can block the flow of blood to the cyst. Having irregular and unusual painful periods is also an indication of having a cyst.

Though the majority of the ovarian cysts are benign, treatment depends on size and signs. Pain medication plus birth control or surgery are the conventional treatments for an ovarian cyst. Pain medication could have undesirable side effects such as drowsiness and nausea and surgical procedure does not guarantee that ovarian cyst will not return. The best choice is to make use of a natural treatment for an ovarian cyst; it will help to eliminate the ovarian cyst permanently with no possibility of it returning.
