Our hands are the ultimate indication of our hygiene. If you ask around, people might say that they look at the nails to see if a person is hygienic or not. This is why we all should be conscious about the cleanliness of our nails. The proper nail care must done on a regular basis to ensure that we have presentable hands all the time.

The nails are important since it protects the skin from any dirt coming in. These serve as a protective covering to keep the fingers as safe as possible. The nails are made up of different parts which are the nail plate, nail bed, nail root and the cuticle. The main composition of the nails is keratin that forms the covering for the nails.

Women often grow their nails as long as they can. Longer nails look more beautiful but these are also more prone to breaking. It is very easy to use the nails to open anything. This can lead of chipping off which is very dangerous. Instead, just use the ball of the fingers for opening to keep the nails safe from breaking. As much as possible, avoid growing your nails longer too.

Nail care also involves the care of the cuticles. As the cuticles serve as a protective covering in between the nails and the skin, you do not have to remove them. You just have to push the cuticles to make them less visible. The next time you have a manicure, you will know how to clean your nails properly.

Food and nail care go together when you want to keep nails healthy. Our diet plays an important role when taking care of the nails. Certain nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B12, vitamin A, calcium and folic acid are needed by the nails. Make sure that you get enough of these vitamins daily.

Nails are primarily composed of protein and hardly any fat content. This keeps the nails hard to moisturize. You need to ensure that the nails are hydrated to prevent it from cracking and chipping off. Drink water everyday for rehydration. You can also get hand and nail lotion that will moisturize your nails. Apply this daily after you wash your hands.

After trimming the nails, it is essential to file them. A fine grit nail file is the best option. Never file your nails in more than one direction. You will maintain the smoothness of your nails. You can also shape your nails. Remember that filing your nails is very helpful as it prevents the nails from cracking.

Knowing the right nail care procedures is a good thing. With cleaner and more presentable nails, you can actually be proud of the way that your nails look. The next time that people look at your nails, they will see how hygienic you are.
