Over the counter remedies for gastric distress is the leading non perscription medication sold in the western world, by far. Gastrointestinal health is also the single greatest determinant of a person's health and happiness. No wonder we have so many unhealthy and unhappy people?

Stomach acid is not a bad thing, we need it to break up proteins into amino acids, and amino acids form your muscles, bones, enzymes, human proteins,connective tissue, and even serve as neurotransmitters.

The problem is that while your stomach produces hydrochloric acid in order to digest dietary proteins, it also releases calcium bicarbonate at the same time to alkaline the blood. The change in PH of the entire system is zero, but the acid/alkaline balance is a separation of one from the other, and for very good reasons.

Your blood has to maintain a very narrow range of PH, 7.35 to 7.40, otherwise you will die. Since the maintenance of this PH range is of such a high priority, the body naturally sacrifices less critical systems for it. An overly acid, painful stomach, and the pain/discomfort it causes is just another indication of the stress being caused in order to maintain your blood's PH.

The over production of stomach acid is primarily the result of the bodies attempt at removing stored toxins/acids from fat tissue. Fat tissue is where your body dumps excess acids/toxins that the blood, and the kidneys cannot absorb at the time. This is why experts recommend not eating the fat from fish living in toxic waters, the fat is where most of the bad stuff is stored. To release too much of these acids and toxins at once risks critically damaging the blood and internal organs.

Excessive gastric distress caused by the over-production of stomach acid indicates the desperate attempt of your body to get rid of excess stored acidity from fat tissue. That is all it is!

When you take prescription medications that inhibit the formation of stomach acids then you are also inhibiting the release of calcium bicarbonate into the blood stream. Calcium bicarbonate alkalies the blood and allows acids to be removed from overly acidified tissues and carried away to the kidneys for excretion. These medications may make your stomach feel better but they only enhance the source of the problem itself and will compromise your general health in increasingly profound ways!

Your body carries the ocean within it. All of your extra-cellular fluids, tears, blood, sweat, have the same proportions of water, salt, and minerals in the same proportions as found in the ocean!

Calcium bi-carbonate forms naturally in any natural water body; river, stream, lake, ocean, sea. Your stomach also releases it into the blood as it produces stomach acid. Our lives are bound with those ancient seas.

An over production of stomach acid is a symptom of underlying metabolic distress and needs to be aided in order to restore balance and not suppressed by modern brain-dead pharmaceuticals.

Calcium is the key to calcium bicarbonate production. Green, leafy, salad type vegetables; kale, chard, and collars are your best sources of alkaline calcium in order to enhance calcium bicarbonate production. Dairy products like cottage cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, and yogurt are also awesome second choices that have the additional benefits of being great sources of protein, potassium, and they taste good.

Metabolic breakdowns in the citric acid cycle can also create pools of toxic acids. Pyruvate is the entry-level molecule for the kerb's cycle and it is also responsible for most of cellular energy production. But pyruvate(pyruvate is highly acidic) requires an acetyl molecule in order to proceed. If it doesn't proceed then it accumulates and the concentration becomes toxic.

Vinegar is acidic and the source of acetyl. The acetyl molecule cannot be freed up from vinegar unless an alkaline buffer exists to do it. If your tissue is overly acidic you might want to mix a strong base with vinegar before you consume it in order to free up the required acetyl molecules in a useful form for the citric acid cycle to utilize. This should go a long way towards helping to remove excess acidity from your body.

Simply mix in baking soda with your vinegar until it stops bubbling, the PH will be about neutral then. This will free up the acetyl from the vinegar and you have pre-buffered the acetyl that your body is not yet capable of doing on its own.
