Offered online and on-campus,
TEEL is an accelerated academic program that prepares motivated individuals for teaching licensure in Ohio. Prospective students must hold a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university to be eligible to enroll in TEEL. Intended to be completed in less than two years, students can elect to design a course of study to prepare them for a teaching license from early childhood through high school.
Faculty in the Teacher Education Evening Licensure program recognize the dedication and drive to succeed intrinsic in their adult students and strive to support them academically and in their future careers. The option to attend the program online is offered to provide students balancing work and family responsibilities the ability to attend school on a schedule which accommodates their unique needs. Online schools feature comprehensive coursework in a web-based interactive environment focused on learning, providing online students with the same educational preparation and faculty involvement as students attending campus-based classes. TEEL is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, demonstrating the level of commitment faculty and staff members have for the program. Students learn from faculty possessing substantial experience as educators and school administrators, ensuring that they will have a network of support following completion of the program.
The course of study taken during the TEEL program varies based on the type of license being pursued. Professionals looking to enter the teaching field serving young children, preschool through grade 3, will focus on education preparation courses and classes related to general subject matters taught in these grades such as math, social studies and emerging reading. As future educators advance to higher grades including 4-12, professional education coursework is completed as well as focused study on one or two subject areas within math, science, social studies and language arts. Those looking to work with a variety of ages may opt to specialize in visual arts or student intervention and can successfully prepare for these licensing exams with the TEEL program.
