Tapping Into Six Sigma Tier Methods For Your Organization

It is very common for professionals using the Six Sigma methods to seek help from the experts when necessary. This is customary for all tiers of the program, starting at the top with the Champions, who are the funders down to the white belts that are necessary at the local level to keep things on track. In between these are the Master Black belts that are excellent teachers of leadership and other skills to the Black and Green belts making things easier for the Yellow belts that are great support staff.

All of these things maintain the standards used in Six Sigma, helping organizations become more quality controlled, understanding how they can improve their methods and procedures, policies and employee job satisfaction, all while maintaining productivity and meeting deadlines.

The Master Black belt position is more like a program or process and is much more than an individual job. They are responsible for training Black belts in all things and models of Six Sigma being used in the program. They have other functions as well such as mentors and consultants if there is a problem with any Black belt run projects. They have tremendous value because of their experience with working projects as well as seniority with quality testing measures. It is standard practice for anyone who possess extensive knowledge and much hands on experience in most any field of endeavor to become a teacher, trainer or consultant instead of directly working in that field, passing on knowledge and advise to others in that field.

The black and green belts will both be able to handle projects on their own after some training by the master black belt. Black belts are put in charge of larger projects that require a great deal of time, effort and detail. They will learn leadership skills that will allow them to direct a large team through a strict processed plan, implementing the projects and seeing them through to completion. They will have the most say in what happens behind the scenes of any project.

A Green belt can expect to be put in change of smaller projects if they show a get things done initiative and have a good and comprehensive working knowledge of Six Sigma DMAIC and DMADV models. Yellow belts measure and analyze the quality specifics as they are the gatherers of data in a fast and accurate manner for the higher level belts on any given project.

Working in conjunction with each other on all levels to achieve a final goal that includes quality control of a higher level for any company starting to use the Six Sigma methods. After the company sees the need for real changes in their organization these methods is a great beginning to get successful change results.
