As you all know, having a pool at your house is really nice, especially when the weather turns hot. They can also run you into some money as you must keep the water clean. The first time your pool is filled, you have to test the water to know what the oh levels are and how much of the proper chemicals you will need to use. If your pool is new, whether it is in the ground or above, the water must be kept at a proper level of cleanliness or it is dangerous to swim in. If you are unsure as to how to go about this procedure, you might need to get a professional pool caretaker to come out and help you get started if you plan to do all of your pool maintenance yourself.

If you have small children that live near by, you will need to put this pool in a fenced in yard or have a deck enclosed around it to keep them out. If the children are living in your home and they do not know how to swim, then you will need to have life jackets for each of them. You will also have to enforce some rules that concern the use of the pool. If you have a child that does not know how to swim, they are not allowed in the pool without an adult with them. If you have an in ground pool with cement or some other slippery surface around it, never allow running. One of the biggest accidents around pools are when there is slipping, hitting the head, and then falling in the water which can easily result in drowning.

If at all possible try to make swimmers that are using your pool know that if they do not follow the rules they will be banned from using it. If you are not at home, make sure that you have a lock on the entrance of the pool so that no one can not get in that is not supposed. If this should happen you might find yourself with a big fine or worse. People have been sued because a child or even an adult drowned or was hurt in a pool even if you had no idea they were in it when they did not have your permission. It does not sound like that should be right, but it is your responsibility to keep people safe when you have a swimming pool.

Many homeowners only find out after they install a swimming pool what a big responsibility they can be. Between the cleaning, maintenance, and safety issues, they can take up a fair amount of your time. Many people choose to employee a regular pool caretaker to keep it in top shape for them. This way all you have to do is lie in the sun and relax around your personal water source.
