Take Charge Of Your Life

By:

Achieving any level of success rule # 1: you make the conditions, take charge of your life. don’t wait on things to be right because they won’t

My wife and I were at the mall the other day and we happened to be looking for running shoes. Anyhow, a couplecame next to us and started looking at shoes when she said something that just irked me. She said: “hey honey we can get you these shoes when it starts getting hot because inthe summer you can start working out. The weather will be perfect & it will be a good time for you to lose weight ”.The couple was obese. But what caught my attention was thefact that this individual was relaying on the conditions ofthe weather to dictate his health. It baffled me because inmy mind I would think if you deem your health valuable thanyou would not wait on perfect conditions; you would make them. You would Take Charge of your life.
I tell you this because the same thought process is how many people approach their life. They leave there life (thegood or bad) up to mere chance, crossing of the fingers, and“hoping” things will get better. They wait on the conditions to be right before they make a move. They wait till’ they have more free time to get that project complete; they waittill’ they have more energy to get that “thing” done; they live in the “one day world”-one day it will be great when I can finally…..
The irony is when this type of person see others around them succeeding, they result to saying “wow Iwish that were me, they are so lucky”….” Everything alwaysseems to come to others & not me”. Truth is, it’s not luck, and it’s not chance. It’s about taking charge of your life.
My coach used to tell me proper prior planning prevents poor performance-so we made a point to properly prepare. For us, preparation involved intense 2xday 2 hour long practices, crucial cardio, weight training, bounding, sprints, various plyometrics, & more running.Practice was not always fun, in fact on many occasions itwas very confrontational and competitive.
It didn’t matter, all of what we went through paled in comparison to standingon that winner’s podium. In fact, the struggle is the last thing you remember when you press on, but when you QUIT the struggle is the main excuse people attribute to their demise.

My drive home point is to not wait on life’s conditions, make your own conditions. Is there something you want to do? What will it take? What is required of you? What steps doyou need to take? Get your plan together and then execute. It’s that simple. If you want to change your life, then change your life. Start working out now if you want to lose weight, don’t wait for the summer. The magic is to “Take Charge of your LIFE”
