While on one of these journeys, there are plenty of floating market gardens that offer an abundance of produce and vegetables that can be consumed in a natural fashion or dined upon in one of the local eatery establishments. The countryside is rich and fertile and provides a lot of visual and other sensory moments that can only be imagined beforehand.

I can also picture myself cruising around Halong Bay with a local beverage in hand, just sitting back and enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds of the local atmosphere. Nearby, one can see the local residents, working and going about their daily business as they have for many thousands of years. To be able to truly take in, appreciate, and enjoy the lifestyle and daily routines of another culture is almost indescribable. Twenty years ago, this would have almost been impossible but times certainly have changed and this country is continuing to change as well and to open itself up to the rest of the civilized world.
