Take A Day Trip On Bc Ferries During Your Visit To Vancouver

By:

A popular route I recommend highly is the Tsawwassen to Victoria route which offers a lot of awesome views. This popular route will take you into Active Pass, a narrow passageway that winds in between several scenic Gulf Islands. Wear warm clothing so you will be able to walk all around on the outside passenger decks where your senses will be enhanced by the freshness of the sea breeze and also the beautiful view which transforms as you sail. Gulls dip and soar above your head, pursuing the great ferries throughout the journey. Sometimes one might also spot a pod of Orca whales playing near the ferry.

The big vessels used on this route provide plenty of padded seats plus lots of large windows from which to watch the lovely scenery passing by when you wish to remain inside the ferry. There is even a cafeteria providing a good variety of cold or hot meals plus drinks.

Crossing the strait is just slightly over ninety minutes in either direction to cross between the Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay Terminals. You definitely will save a considerable amount of cash by riding as a foot passenger instead of driving your car onto the boat. If you are travelling without your automobile and / or would like to keep the cost down through travelling as foot passengers you will be able to easily get to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal on public transportation. Departing from Vancouver BC ride the Canada Line Skytrain to Bridgeport Station and board the #620 bus from bay #3 to the ferry terminal. The SkyTrain fare is also valid on the bus. When you start your excursion pretty early in the day you'll have enough opportunity to catch the #70 BC Transit express coach at the far terminus and go for a trip into beautiful downtown Victoria, the capital of BC. You will be required to to pay for another small fare to ride the #70 bus as it is not affiliated with the Vancouver transit system. When you coach arrives in beautiful downtown Victoria, you can go for a walk and experience some of the many attractions and sights in the vicinity of Victoria's downtown harbour including the Parliament buildings as well as the Empress Hotel. Be forwarned that if you spend a few hours of visiting downtown Victoria you will probably desire to come and see more.

BC Ferries makes eight or more trips daily from seven in the morning through to 9 in the evening. In order to receive the most current information on daily schedules and fares and information on many other ferry routes go to: http://www.bcferries.com/
