Taj mahal is amongst the seven wonders of the world other being Great Wall of China, Mexicos Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, Machu Pichu in Peru, the Colosseum in Rome, Brazils statue of Christ and Jordan's Petra.Taj mahal Indias pride,an emblem of love was constructed by Shah Jahan the great mughal ruler. It exhibits the profound love of a famous ruler for his much loved wife. At night, the Taj displays its unbound splendor when the silver bright light of the moon fall down on the snow white silver marble of the tomb. During the day the glitter of the sun shows a radiant beauty and the brightness of sunset mixed with its glow make it more inspiring and motivating.
History:
Shah Jahan,the fifth son of Jahangir was given the name of 'the King of World' because of his military conquests. Mumtaj Mahal was so beautiful that she could be compared to heavenly angels .Mumtaj died in 1630 while delivering her fourteenth son but prior to her death she took vow from her husband Shah Jahan to set up a most stunning and a fine looking tomb in the world in the profound remembrance of their genuine love due to which this vault was set up in Agra .The Taj Mahal is an evidence of great Mughal architecture, it is a mixture of Ottoman , Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles .Agra became a renowned city during the time of Lodhi Kings when they made Agra city as its capital. After the era of Lodhis, the Mughals arrived here and built a new empire. Agra touched its height during the age of Akbar, Shah Jahan and his father Jehangir.The Taj Mahal the symbol of love became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and famous as an example of Muslim architecture in India
Construction:
Taj Mahal is built with snow white marble mixed with red sandstone and various other stones like jasper and sapphire .Crystal too is used at numerous places .The construction of Taj mahal commenced on 1632 and took 22years for the completion of this beautiful monument . Surrounding the beautiful Taj are the four towers as long as 41.6m at each corner. In case of an earthquake these provide a protection to the vault. At every corner there were rooms which belonged to the were majestic family members and on the left side of the building were two mosques which were used for Friday prayers and was made of red sand stone
How to reach Taj MahaL
Traveling by air is very convenient as Indian Airlines runs regular flights from Delhi to Agra. It is just half an hour flight and the Kheria airport is about 6 km from Agra city Air: Indian Airlines runs regular flights from Delhi to Agra. Kheria Airport is about 6 km from the Agra city and is easily accessible by taxis and autos at reasonable prices.
Traveling by train is another convenient way to reach Agra.
Traveling by road is feasible too as the road connecting. Agra is extremely good and the A.C coaches are commuting from Jhansi, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur and Gwalior.
