Symptoms And Reasons Of Conjunctiva Hemorrhages

Coughing, vomiting, sneezing and straining for a bowel movement can all increase blood pressure temporarily, which may trigger a hemorrhage under the conjunctiva. Other potential triggers include ridding with a rapid acceleration and deceleration, merry go rounds and excessive eye rubbing and so on.

Conjunctiva hemorrhages usually undergo color changes over weeks and then resolve. They are painless and never cause vision loss. However, any bleeding on the eye deserves a thorough eye examination, in order to rule out potential serious eye problems. For instance, trauma can lead to an unknown eye perforation that may result in blindness without proper treatment.

The risk of conjunctiva hemorrhages can be increased by many factors. Those diseases include high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, some types of blood cancers, diabetes and HIV. These drugs contain blood thinner, aspirin, ibuprofen and even birth control pills. Some systemic diseases are also possible contributors to hemorrhages, such as flu, measles, malaria as well as rare viruses.

The conjunctiva tissue is very active in the eyes own immune system. It keeps mucous on the eye surface and allows the eyelid to resurface the cornea as well as prevent dry eyes. People should receive routine eye check ups to keep it healthy.
