Sydney Harrison Lights Up Los Angeles

In a city bursting at the seams with stars, newcomer Sydney Harrison is starting to burn bright, inking memorable songs chock full of soothing melodies and thoughtful lyrics. The exceptionally talented 18-year-old is slowly spreading throughout Los Angeles while writing and performing a series of songs featuring her enchanting piano playing and silky smooth voice. With a number of singles already completed and many more on the horizon, this is just the first step on Harrison's skyward journey towards stardom.

Born and raised in San Francisco and then Los Angeles, the blooming musician was trained in jazz and classical piano before expanding into the eclectic pop which she plays today. Harrison pens all of her own music and lyrics while performing everything solo, cementing her as a true one-woman show capable of capturing the audience with ease. By utilizing her formal training and blending influences from contemporary pop acts, she's able to generate a sound driven by expressive lyrical content which is both original and inspired.

While drawing comparisons to the vocal talents of Natalie Merchant and Rickie Lee Jones, as well as musical similarities to The Cranberries or Joni Mitchell, Harrison's first series of singles are generating buzz throughout the local music scene. Released in November 2010, "Chances Only Wait," "April Blooms for You," and "Ninth Heart," are her initial forays into recorded music, and creating attention on her official MySpace page. With a library of content locked away inside her musical mind, Harrison is tirelessly working on fresh material to record and release onto waves of unsuspecting fans.

Open mic nights throughout the Los Angeles area have been the pianists stomping grounds thus far, although she's hoping to begin booking professional gigs at clubs and venues throughout Southern California. As Harrison continues to hone her performance skills to a razor sharp edge and record another set of addictive tracks, her presence in the area will continue to bloom and eventually explode across the West coast music scene.

Harrison's first three singles are all available to stream for free on MySpace, and her next two songs, "Mountain" and "Sleepless Nights" are set for release sometime in the near future. Once enough tracks are completed, she hopes to assemble a full length record, which will be supported by more performances and a growing presence via internet and social media.
