Sweet And Tasty Thoughts On The Health Benefits Of Honey And Cinnamon

By:

Honey is a unique food because it is the only food that is made by insects that humans eat. It is also the only food that will not spoil.

However, not all honey is the same. Always insist on raw, unheated and certainly unpasteurized honey! If possible, buy your honey from a local beekeeper to know that you are getting what you really want.

Once honey is heated, all important vitamins, antioxidants and enzymes are destroyed and what you're left with is an expensive sweetener with little or no nutritional value.

Honey has been coupled with the spice cinnamon for what may be some excellent health benefits.

Cinnamon is interesting in its own regard. A teaspoon of cinnamon has vitamins C, K and the mineral magnesium. It also has 28 milligrams of calcium and an entire gram of fiber. Cinnamon has been linked to possibly help control diabetes and perhaps lower cholesterol.

The following ideas of honey and cinnamon as a benefit in the relief of various wellness disorders is not medical advice, but who knows, it may help. Always insist on raw unheated, honey to get all of honey's remarkable health benefits.

Make a tea of 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Drinking it at morning and at night may help to relieve arthritis pain, prevent bladder infections and soothe stomach problems. It may even give you an energy boost if you drink it during your afternoon "slump."

Honey and cinnamon are good in helping to relive nasty cold symptoms like chronic cough and blocked sinuses. To protect against the dreaded flu bug, eat honey for its antibiotic properties.

If honey can protect against the flu, eat it daily to also strengthen your immune system.

Sprinkle cinnamon on your honey and eat it before each meal to possibly lower your "bad"cholesterol. This simple gesture may also help revitalize your arteries and veins to protect you from the possibility of a heart attack.

Not only will the honey and cinnamon help your heart, eating this tasty combo before meals may help your digestive system to work better.

Honey and cinnamon may be just what you need for weight loss. Try drinking a tea made with 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Drink this daily about a hour before breakfast and then again at night before going to bed. This may help fat to stop accumulating in your body.

Enjoy this delicious food combo and all of its health benefits!
In conclusion, make sure you use raw honey, sprinkle cinnamon on in and use it as a morning tea. Eat honey and cinnamon before every meal and then end your day with a nightcap of honey and cinnamon stirred into hot water.

For a summertime treat, try this healthy and refreshing recipe that I developed one day. I call it simply Pink Lemonade.

cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Juice of 3 limes OR lemons
2 quarts pure water
Cup of raw honey
Generous dash of cinnamon

Combine all ingredients together in a blender, blend for several minutes and enjoy! Refrigerate any remaining juice.

Using a bit of imagination you can enjoy your honey and cinnamon combination in a variety of different ways, every day.
