Sunrooms - Practical And Easy To Build

By:

A sunroom close to your house might be the best alternative if you want to enjoy the surroundings without being affected by the weather conditions. They are usually built on one of the walls of the house and are highly appreciated in Canada, Ireland, new Zealand, parts of Europe and the United States. The British call them conservatories, even if they are not built for cultivating plants.

The materials sunrooms are usually built of are wood, glass, PVC or brick (brick and wood are generally used for the base on which PVC, the so called knee wall stands) while most roofs are made of transparent plastic.

There are two main types of sunrooms based on their design: the ones which are designed for scenic view and the ones who are meant to collect sunlight and warmth for heating purposes. The later are usually called solariums and they are most likely to be found in cold location such as Northern countries. The Gable type of sunrooms are known to offer the feeling of wide space thanks to their high roofs.
The sunrooms in Florida used to be built separately from the home, but lately it has become very fashionable to blend their architecture in the home. The revolution in producing thermo resistant materials brought with it the possibility of building sunrooms in both hot states like Texas or California and also in colder states in the North.

Along with the sunrooms come the accessories; blinds are now directed by hand held devices, which have a very profitable niche market in Europe. The special floors in sunrooms are no longer tiled like they used to be since the heating pipes have become a common acquisition in all the modern houses. Also, the variety of materials used for building the sunroom floors has grown.

If you plan to build a sunroom you must know that the sum you need to invest in it varies by location, size, specifications and builder, of course. If you will go for a standard sunroom, chances are many that it will cost you less than one with an elaborate design and an intricate architectural plan.
