Summer Must-haves For Him And Her

With the tempermental weather we are currently experiencing in London, it's difficult to know what to wear. Assuming the weather gets nicer, here are a few items…

A woman shouldn't live without:

Crop tops:

Crop tops seem to be all the rage these days and even those without washboard stomachs can wear them. How you ask? Put them on top of a long tight tank top. That way you give yourself the length of the tank top and the comfort of a big tee that's covering the most important places. By putting something loose over something tight you can show off your small waist.

Shorts:

Skirts and maxi dresses are great for the summer, but if you're looking for a summer version of the jeans and t-shirt look you sport most of the year, shorts are the way to go. For a casual look you can pair a pair of jean shorts with flat sandals and a knit white top. For a dressier look you can pair silk, coloured shorts with a tucked in blouse and a nice pair of wedges.

Kaftans:

Kaftans are the perfect item to wear over your swimsuit. They are thin, light and generally quite colourful They can cover you up when you go for a walk in the sand or during a meal in the sun. But kaftans need not be limited to the beach. They can be worn in the city too. Paired with flats they can make a really comfortable and cool summer outfit.

When it comes to men's fashion the choices are always a bit more limited. Items a man shouldn't live without include:

Basic tees:

This may sound boring but having a wide range of basic tees for the summer is a must. Splash out with bright colours and graphic ones.

Shorts:

The same thing applies for shorts. You can stick with denim, khaki or navy blue ones, or you can be a bit brave and opt for pink, purple, green and yellow ones as well. These are nicely paired with a basic white tee or a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

A skinny tie:

Skinny ties are very cool and might be the perfect thing to wear with a dress shirt and a pair of shorts on a summer's day. For extra effect you might even pin a tie clip onto it.

It's only the end of May, so we should all remain optimistic about the weather and our summer wardrobes.
