Suffolk's Winter And Autumn Seasons

The region of Suffolk, UK is set in the region of East Anglia, which encounter favourable weather, such as reduced wind speeds and more sunlight all through the year, in contrast to the rest of the UK. For that reason, Suffolk is a wonderful area to enjoy, the whole year round.

Suffolk rarely sees extreme or damaging weather, which is one of the reasons why Newmarket, Suffolk was chosen as the home of horseracing, many years ago. There are various guided nature walks, cycling events, farmers' markets, countryside events and RSPB bird watching and activities happening in various locations throughout Suffolk, as well as the Woodwose Pumpkin and Chilli Festival in Aldeburgh, which all take place throughout the autumn season.

The horseracing at Newmarket also takes place throughout October, with the last meeting usually being held at the end of the month. Many of these countryside activities, and similar events, also take place throughout the winter months, with the exception of Newmarket racing. However, the racecourses at Newmarket function as venues for many other events throughout the year, including craft fairs and classic car shows.

Winter is a pretty time is Suffolk, with morning frost glistening on the grass and rooftops of the many towns and villages throughout the county. Along with the frost comes the Christmas cheer in Suffolk, with many towns holding late-night shopping events and Christmas light switch-on ceremonies. Many residents of Suffolk are known for decorating the fronts of their houses with lights and all manner of other decorations during the festive season, so there is a festive site to behold, even when passing through residential areas of Suffolk's towns and villages.

There are also many Christmas pantomimes and concerts throughout the county, in the months of December and January, which can be great fun for all the family. February sees the commencement of wedding exhibitions throughout Suffolk, in preparation for the spring season.

Accommodation in the county is plentiful and varied. From quaint bed & breakfasts to contemporary hotels, there is a hotel in Suffolk to suit every taste and budget. Campgrounds are also plentiful, enjoying beautiful locations in woodlands and meadows, as well as cottage and farmhouse rentals.

Tourist Information Centres are a great source of information when deciding on accommodation in Suffolk. Whichever the accommodation of choice, it is sure to be located close to some of Suffolk's most enjoyable autumn and winter events.
