Suffolk Uk: Unbeatable Coastal Breaks

By:

Coastal Breaks are a big favourite with many of us, the opportunity to get to the beach and walk for hours or take the family for a real old-fashioned seaside break, buckets and spades, flying kites, wind-breakers and picnics.

Whatever the reason, the British coastline has so much to offer us all and such a variety of landscapes, from the surfing favourites of Cornwall that bear the brunt of the great Atlantic Ocean, to the quiet bays on the western coast of Scotland, where isolated and less popular beaches nestle in quiet bays.

The coastline has a magnetic attraction for many of us, the mesmerising form of the waves, the reminder of family days spent during our childhood or romantic days spent with loved ones and the magnificence of the powerful nature of the ocean.

Hotels along the British coast are extremely popular, being able to see the beach from your hotel room is a real premium and few hotels along the coast can boast of such a great location as The White Lion Hotel in Aldeburgh, literally a stones throw from the pebbled beach.

Aldeburgh, on the Suffolk Heritage coast, has a particular charm that has attracted visitors from all over the world. The composer Benjamin Britten settled here, and the annual Aldeburgh Festival at nearby Snape Maltings was developed by him, the site being transformed from disused malthouses into a concert venue of international acclaim that now hosts a year-round programme of musical events.

Fishing and boat building are the foundations of the town and both trades still thrive. The sailing boats dotted along the river at one end of the town, the fishing huts, sheds and working boats scattered about the beach at the other all carry on as they have throughout the years and provide endless subject matter for painters and photographers who make this a regular place to visit.

If you are looking for a hotel right on the beach, they dont come much closer than
The White Lion in Aldeburgh, nestled at the quieter end of the town and literally a stones thrown from the pebbled beach, offering uninterrupted views out to sea. A traditional privately owned hotel, the White Lion offers the highest standards of hospitality, service and value for money, without compromising on quality.
