Steel is most commonly used alloy which contains 0.2% -1.2% carbon in it with rest as iron. Steel is preferred for daily use products instead of iron because it did not get oxidized or rusted like iron very easily.
This alloy is used everywhere around us from small wiring to the large iron rods or TMT bars which supports our homes. Different billets and blooms made up of steel are used to provide structural support and strength to the construction work.
Corrosion:
Corrosion is a soundless damage to structures made of different metals. When metals react with oxygen and water around them then they gets oxidized. In common language we call it rusting in case of iron. Corrosion weakens the metal thus reducing its strength and that is the reason steel is used instead of iron in construction of different buildings.

There are different types of steel used in construction work like Mild steel, Corrosion resistant steel, Stainless steel, alloy steel etc. Ratio of carbon and iron in the alloy decides its ductility and strength thus further deciding its work. For example materials made up of structural steel like M.S channel are used in providing structural support in construction work.
Steel is not only used in the construction of our houses but also in the construction of skyscrapers, road bridges etc. The tall buildings now a days are dependent on steel as they were dependent on cement few days back. With the change of time our technology is changing because of our changing needs. We need good and satisfactory products in less amount of money and time.

Different items around us uses different alloys but most common among them is steel . starting from a door handle, doors ,utensils used in kitchen ,different kinds of furniture like chair and table etc every thing around us uses steel because of its durability and less price.
