Strong Wind And Water Storms At Night Could Mean Damage In The Morning

Sometimes it seems that most of the real damaging storms hit at night when you are asleep. These storms are like the flooding that can occur after a lot of rain, tornadoes, or lightening that knocks out the power and you wake up in the middle of the night in the dark. When severe storms are expected during the night, you should either leave your television on or a weather radio so you can listen to it in case it gets really bad.

Sometimes when you are pretty sure there is going to be some risky weather during the night, it is best to try and stay awake until it passes or set your alarm to go off about the time it is expected. It is difficult to get to sleep when you know you could be awakened by a tornado or flood ripping your home apart. If there is more than one adult in the home, you could take turns sitting up in case you need to get out of the home. At least this way, someone can get a little sleep and the other can be awake to give warning if the worst should happen.

Strong thunder storms that can create a tornado are such fast storms that you might find out about it too late to even get to safety. You might not be able to get to a safe room in your home before it hits. If you have warning in advance, you might have enough time to at least roll your mattress over yourself. A weather radio can be run on electric or batteries. If your power gets knocked out, you will still have a way to hear the weather warnings, so make sure your batteries are good. You can also listen out for a tornado siren if there is one in the community where you live. These sirens are very loud and are meant to alert people when there has been a tornado spotted in your area and you should take cover immediately.

These storms can be so bad that they could damage the water supply, put several trees or tree limbs in the roads totally blocking them. This storm could rip off your roof or put your car in the neighbors tree and in a lot of cases they will completely take your home by sending it in all directions. Along with these storms can come very heavy rains that will cause even more damage. This damage could show up right away or several days later. With any storm, just try to keep yourself and your family safe the rest will come later.
