Stop Sweaty Feet: Learn The Basics

Many people have a problem with smelly feet and look for ways to stop sweaty feet. Some people find that even directly after bathing, they can actually smell the odor. This can certainly be a very embarrassing problem and can even make the sufferer feel that they do not want to remove their shoes in public. Lots of people also suffer from excessive underarm and palms perspiration as well.

For these people it is always best to wear open shoes such as sandals, however, in colder weather this is not always possible or logical. Paying attention to foot hygiene is one of the best ways to help this problem, those affected should make sure that they attend to their feet everyday.

By washing the feet twice a day, this can alleviate the problem all by itself. Bathing or showering prior to dressing is essential, but make sure the water is not too hot. Make sure you scrub both feet with a suitable an antibacterial soap using one of the many different types of sponges available. One that is not too soft nor too rough is the best option. Lather up the sponge with the soap and clean the soles as well as in between the toes.

After bathing, a soft clean towel should be used to fully dry the feet. Always check that there is no dampness in between the toes. Creams especially formulated for this perspiration problem are available and can be used as well along with special athlete foot powders which help absorb wetness. Special foot sprays are also available for people with foot odor problems. These sprays are refreshing to use, especially after bathing, although they can also be used throughout the day.

Shoes are an important factor. Never walk about in tennis shoes all day, they are well known to cause problems. Tennis shoes and other athletic type shoes are ideal for running or going for a walk, they are a sports shoe and should be used as such. Always make sure shoes are replaced at least twice a year. Leather shoes with leather insoles are considered more breathable.

There are even some sprays available for use on the insole. Normally these are used after cleaning the insole, a light spray is all that is needed. Purchasing new insoles is also a good idea, especially if they are old or worn. The charcoal types are very beneficial in absorbing excessive perspiration. Socks made of cotton are also an option.

To stop or lessen odor it is always best to pay attention to a good daily hygiene regime. If good hygiene is adhered to and sensible shoes are worn and there still seems a problem, then a visit to a doctor could be necessary to determine if a medical problem exists.
