Steps To Maintain Pollen Herb Grinder

What are the steps to take after you purchase your pollen herb grinder? First of all, what many people arent aware of is that a new product does not always mean a clean one. Many times grinders will come from the factory with metal shavings. Some are so small that they are virtually undetectable at first glance. This is why it is recommended to clean a grinder before use. Even if you cant see any shavings, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Another thing to be aware of is that your grinder may be extremely durable, but that does not mean it is indestructible. If you drop your grinder it is best to check for any metal shavings or pieces of glue that may have fallen from beneath the pollen screen. Being aware of the implications of dropping your grinder, and the potential damage it can cause, can extend the life of your grinder dramatically, and save you from the cost of a replacement that could have been avoided in the future.

Cleaning your herb grinder is a simple process that usually takes around ten to fifteen minutes. You will need a sheet of paper, a q-tip (if your grinder did not come with a scraper), 90% isopropyl alcohol, and a small container or jar with a lid (to put your grinder in).

The first step is to tear the piece of paper into shreds and grind. When you have ground up the paper to your satisfaction, dispose of it and disassemble your grinder into its various pieces. Next, clear away any residue with a q-tip or a scraper. Fill your container with the isopropyl alcohol, and put all of the grinder pieces inside, making sure they are completely covered by the alcohol. Finally, put a lid on the container and gently swirl. Let this sit for about ten minutes. You can also clean the pollen screen with a toothbrush and dunk again in the solution (if needed). Then let it dry in the open air. Put it back together, and you are all set to enjoy your new herb grinder!
