Stay Play And Be Entertained Near The Motor City

A variety of entertainment options are nearby the Motor City. Get up close and personal with big stars at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The new, 5,000-seat venue is the largest theater within all Harrah's properties -- even bigger than the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The theater books A-list comedians, singers and concert programs ranging from Motown to country.

Casino amenities include a two-tower hotel with some of the best views of the Detroit skyline across the river, restaurants such as Nero's steakhouse, nightlife at the Cosmos and VU Bar, and, of course, plenty of high-energy gaming.

Detroiter's who want to get some serious "shop on" are more than willing to make a pilgrimage to Prime Outlets at Birch Run, located about an hour and a half northwest of Detroit. As the largest outlet mall in the Midwest, the outdoor venue is sprawling with some 145 brand-name outlets from American Eagle Outfitters to Zales. Best of all, it's a bargain hunter's dream with savings of up to 65 percent.

Shopaholics trek to Birch Run from all over Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Canada, and many won't leave without a stop at Tony's I-75 Restaurant. Tony's specializes in gigantic omelets, mile-high roast beef sandwiches and gallon containers of chili and beef stew for the road.

What wine would one pair with truffle popcorn? Ask the sommeliers at Vinology Wine Bar and Restaurant in Ann Arbor, where everyone is well versed in vino. The aim of this establishment, situated in the heart of the Big Ten town, is to enrich life through the experience of wine, food and conversation.

Vinology is similar to its sister venue, Vinotecca in Royal Oak, except the menu is more extensive. Among the offerings: steak tips coated with an Asian-inspired ponzu lacquer, and served with a small bowl of popcorn dusted with truffle salt. To experience the true meaning of Vinology, try ordering this dish with a glass of Chateau Brassac Merlot-Cabernet from Bordeaux, France.

Whether you're a serious gearhead or just love your Jeep, you'll want to motor on over to the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. Located at the Chrysler headquarters complex in Auburn Hills, the museum documents the history and vision of local automaker Chrysler.

At 55,000 square feet with three floors, the museum is filled with more than 70 antique, custom and concept vehicles. Visitors are invited to get an up-close look at car bodies and engines as they explore the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands, as well as predecessors such as DeSoto, Hudson, Nash, Plymouth, Rambler and Willys-Overland. The museum's lower level, Boss Chrysler's Garage, displays an eclectic array of historic vehicles, including performance and race cars as well as trucks and Jeeps.

The museum's permanent exhibit, Forward Thinking: The Chrysler Story Exhibition, highlights Chrysler milestones from its first vehicle, built in 1924, to the current age of advanced electronics and transistors. From January 11 through March 15, make sure to check out the Dodge Copperhead and Sidewinder concept cars in the special exhibit Muscle Machines.

For more fun-filled activity, Michigan's largest non-profit professional theater offers award-winning productions, incredible intimacy, excellent sight lines and superior acoustics. Of course, if you're a basketball fan, you won't want to miss your chance to see the Pistons play at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Before the game, stop by the Palace Grille, which is open two hours prior to tip-off, for a diverse selection of continental and Mediterranean dishes.
