Stay Inside For Date Night This Winter

By:

I love the winter season, but sometimes slogging through snow drifts to reach the bus stop or to walk the dog can leave me cold to the bone. It's days like that which leave me intimidated at the prospect of leaving my home for a date night with my spouse.

But on the other hand, staying inside for every weekend in the coming months probably doesn't sound like much fun, does it? Well, it can be if you know how to make the most out of time indoors. How does that work? Let me give you a few suggestions.

Venturing out to your favorite restaurants during the weekend can be truly horrible, as sitting room in the lobby quickly fills up and you are left shivering on the sidewalk or in the parking lot as you wait for a table.

That is why, when you are craving a savory dish from your favorite Italian place or a flavorful burrito from the neighborhood Mexican joint, you should contact them about delivery or to-go options.

Many restaurants now offer "curbside" pickup or food delivery, meaning you don't have to leave the warmth and comfort of your car or even your home in order to have the meals you enjoy the most. You can use the internet to find delivery services in your area and even place an order online for your convenience.

You can mimic the romantic ambiance of a restaurant by getting out your best china, laying down a quality tablecloth, and lighting some candles. Or, if you're lucky enough to have a fireplace, set up a picnic right in front of it.

If you don't have a fireplace, never fear! Many mainstream furniture stores sell electric units that can be positioned virtually anywhere in your home, as long as there is an outlet nearby. They even produce units that will fit perfectly into a corner.
Take up fun activities that you can learn and practice indoors--together. There are many software programs that teach foreign languages, which means you can start developing your new linguistic skills together.

If you're looking to take a foreign vacation in the future, then you might want to explore the possibilities for learning the native tongue. For example, because my spouse and I are planning to visit Ireland in the coming months, we've been learning a little Irish Gaelic in order to enrich our experience.

Let out your inner child. My brother and I used to built forts in our living room with chairs and blankets, and winter is the perfect time to do that again. Bring in a thermos of hot chocolate and watch a movie on your laptop together.

These are just a few ideas to consider. Get creative as you make efforts to stay warm!
