Standing Coat Racks - Should I Buy A Standing Coat Rack Or A Wall Mounted Coat Rack?

If you're thinking about buying a standing coat rack or a wall mounted coat rack but haven't decided between the two, here are some things to think about that may help you to decide. Usually a wall mounted rack is semi- permanent. Even if you remove it, it can leave big holes in the wall. They may be bigger than other holes because of the weight that has been distributed on the hooks over a period of time. Plus you don't have the convenience of moving it around as you do with a movable rack.

A standing coat rack is mobile and can be moved from place to place and from room to room with ease. Many have wheels or casters and can easily be moved around any time of the day or night. You may want to do this when you redecorate or find that you have more traffic in another area or need it in the kids' room or their playroom instead of by the front door or in the entryway.

Wall mounts can only hold a few heavy coats or heavy jackets - then they get overloaded and coats tend to fall to the floor and land in a big pile. You may find yourself picking them up often and trying to find a place on a hook to put it back. Standing coat racks have more room and coats tend not to fall off of them.

With a wall rack you're stuck with in the event you want to change the room and decor. Wall mounts are not attractive and are partially covered up with the clothing that is hanging from them most of the time.

If you're renting a house, condo or apartment you don't want to damage the wall with nail or screw holes. It also becomes a part of the real property and you can't take it with you when you move.

Whereas a standing rack is attractive and can be made from many materials including metals and woods of all types. They can be painted to blend with a room's decor or left in their natural state. They're often used as an added piece to accessorize a room and match the decor. They're practical and functional -you can actually use it instead of just look at it.

So a standing coat rack is a much better choice than a wall mounted rack. It is a lot more versatile and you have the added factor of being able to move it around from room to room or to take it with you when you move. There are many styles and types to choose form. Make sure you do a lot of research online before you buy one.
