St. Louis Cardinals Will See The Post Season Again In 2010

Nothing leaves a worst taste in your mouth than knowing you were the better team and getting bounced out of the playoffs far before your time. The St. Louis Cardinals experienced that last season as they made an early exit after a great season and will surely be looking to rectify that situation and get go deep into the post season in 2010.

The Cardinals are a team that is built for success. They have some of the best talent in baseball and match up well against every team that they will play. Being considered the favorite for the division is pretty much automatic; however, the division is not what this team has in mind.

Looking at the starters will make any other coach face a horrible feeling of envy. They have four proven starters that have all had 15 wins in a season. That is simply remarkable to have that kind of talent up and down the rotation. How many teams can truly say that they are running a number two starter out in their fourth position?

When it comes time to hand the ball off to the bullpen, who better than Ryan Franklin to take it? Here is a player that struggled to find his true role but that everyone always thought was talented. It almost seemed as though we were going to lose him and then the trade happened. He settled into a bullpen role and never looked back.

His permanent move to the pen happened several seasons ago, but it was the change of scenery that seemed to make things fall into place for him. The second half of the season after the trade was a real eye opener for people that had forgotten how talented he really was. After the show he put on in 2009, he is now considered to be one of the premier closers in baseball.

If you are talking about offense in St. Louis you have to be talking about Pujols. Here is a ballplayer that has lit up the league from day one and is actually averaging just over 40 home runs for each of his 9 seasons in the majors. He will surely surpass the 400 mark in the second half of this season and there are plenty more to hit after that.

There is little incentive needed for Cards fans to get in line at the ticket window. This will once again be one of the great teams in baseball and the world may come to an end if they do not get into the post season. While anything can happen, it would take something truly spectacular for the Cardinals to miss out on post season play in 2010.
