Spring Training Season Heats Up In Arizona

By:

As people gather from across the nation to participate in spring training fever, Scottsdale comes alive with tons of exhibition games, fun charity events, great deals on cheap tickets, and non-stop parties in the celebration of the annual major-league baseball games and interactive spring training activities.

Though the Spring Training ritual began back in the late 1800s, this year marks several new beginnings for the Cactus League. For openers, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies are leaving Tucson to share the new $100 million spring training stadium at Salt River Fields next to the Talking Stick Resort and Golf Course. This impressive new facility is located within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community on the eastern border of Scottsdale off the 101 Freeway and Indian Bend.

The following fifteen American and National League teams will participate in spring training in the Phoenix metropolitan area:

AZ Diamondbacks - Salt River Fields Scottsdale
Chicago Cubs HoHoKam Stadium Mesa
Chicago White Sox Camelback Ranch Glendale
Cincinnati Reds Goodyear Ballpark Goodyear
Cleveland Indians Goodyear Ballpark Goodyear
Colorado Rockies Salt River Fields Scottsdale
Kansas City Royals Surprise Stadium Surprise
LA Angels Tempe Diablo Stadium Tempe
LA Dodgers Camelback Ranch Glendale
Milwaukee Brewers Maryvale Baseball Park Phoenix
Oakland As Phoenix Municipal Stadium Phoenix
San Diego Padres Peoria Sports Complex Peoria
San Francisco Giants Scottsdale Stadium Scottsdale
Seattle Mariners Peoria Sports Complex Peoria
Texas Rangers Surprise Stadium Surprise

However, the other smaller stadiums like Scottsdale Stadium in Old Town Scottsdale, Tempe Diablo Stadium, or Phoenix Municipal Stadium allow spectators a closer connection with the action on the field, as well as in the dugouts and during practice sessions - unheard of the rest of the year. Spectators and avid fans revel in the chance to collect autographs of their favorite players and to hopefully catch a fly ball while soaking up the sun.

The multitude of visitors to Scottsdale during this time of year creates an energy in the atmosphere which is contagious. The scene after sundown draws all fans to the area's many diverse night spots. There are restaurants (to suit all tastes), clubs, lounges, bars, dancing and so much more. You'll find activities and entertainment happening all around town. The remarkable spring weather helps to keep things going, both indoors and out, long after dark. For starters, you might want to head out to Scottsdale's W Hotel located on Camelback Road, and take part in their nightlife and festivities. Who knows, you might find yourself sitting right next to the leagues newest superstar.

With the thrilling Spring Training games, we launch into the start of another fun-filled spring season in Arizona.
