Drooling gamers can now get a taste of things to come, thanks to the newly released Creature Creatora freeware demo of the upcoming game Spore.

Concocted and designed by acclaimed game creator Will Wright (famous for past games such as Sims), Spore lets you take the role of Godala Black and Whiteand help spawn a particular single cel organism into a fledgling intergalactic society. What sets Spore apart from similar games that came before is that all the action takes place in a, first, uninhabited planet somewhere around the universe. Players arent then limited to familiar and indigenous surroundings and common factors to consider while sustaining life. Instead, a whole new alien playground sets the stage for a very longalbeit unending gaming experience. Of course, some laws that we know of may still apply, mainly that of natural selection, but that will definitely make the game experience a lot more interesting.

Instead of giving us a time-constrained demo or one that lasts only for a few turns, Electronic Arts has ingeniously released a Creature Creator application (The actual game is set to release September 7). This lets gamers infinitely customize a creature to their hearts content, from its face, body structure, color, length, etc, and later see what their divine underlings would look like in-game. After which, the computer generates a distinct personality unique to that character based on how its designed. It certainly is better than a short lived demo, as players and aspiring deities can create as many creatures as they want. There is even an option to upload a video of your creature to Youtube as well as create a Facebook account for it directly from the application.

The web is already being flooded with a wide variety of Spore creatures, ranging from the inspired to the grossly bizarre. Some players have actually been reported to have been given a warning by EA for creating obscene creatures that have been enlightened by male and female genitalia.
