Some Of The Many Different Uses Of Scented Oils

By:

Scented perfume and cologne oils are very versatile in nature and can be used in many more ways than the average person realizes. Remember that the oil is the same base used to create perfumes and colognes therefore it can be used in a wider variety of ways. Scented oils were used to provide fragrance many centuries before perfumes were ever created. In the western culture we use perfumes and colognes, but in other cultures scented and essential oils are the standard for fragrance.

First of all if you want to use scented oils to produce perfumes the process is simple. You can use about 15 to 30 percent of the actual oil as the main ingredient. You can add about 70 percent pure 100 proof distilled vodka to provide the alcohol needed for the mixture. Add the alcohol to the oil base and leave it in a cool, dry, dark place for several days. Remember to stir the mixture gently when you mix it. Now you will need to add about 5 per cent distilled water to the mixture and stir it again. Once again let it sit for several days. Use a coffee filter to distill it and the end result is perfume. You can experiment with the mixture to get the right blend of fragrance, or you can simply start with an oil based fragrance that you like already so that the end result wont be a surprise.

You can also mix scented oils with unscented essential oils or carrier oils to use in giving a full body massage. You should use carrier oil which is light and easily absorbed into the skin as the main ingredient. The scented oil will add an additional pleasurable effect. A good one to use for this is Egyptian Musk. The light musk fragrance is good for night time use and is a favorite of the vast majority of my customers.

Many of our customers will add a few drops of scented oil to a hot bath for a unique relaxing experience. Certain scents such as musk and sandalwood are good for night time use and will help you to unwind and relax during evening hours. You once again will have to experiment to find which works best for you.

You can add scented body oils to unscented oils, lotions, or cosmetics to give yourself a unique layering effect when you also use the scented oil fragrance or you may use just a small amount in your unscented oil or lotion for a more subtle softer fragrance.

Scented oils are often applied to clothing to help further dissipate the aroma. This is a good technique to use in cooler weather and works very well for most people who try it. It effectively spreads the fragrance so that more people will enjoy it. I once had a Jamaican customer show me how to rub a little bit of coconut oil on my hair (back when I still had hair). He swore by the effect that it had on women and I must admit that whenever I wear the coconut oil this way I do get many compliments.

I have also mixed scented oils with bath salts and sold the mixture in my retail store. This sold very well and even got a following of customers. The fragrance combined with the relaxing effect of the bath oil is a very pleasurable experience.

The best time to apply scented oil directly to the body is immediately after a bath or shower while the pores of the skin are still open. This greatly enhances the effect of the oil.

These are just a few uses for perfume and cologne oils. If you use your imagination you are certain to come up with many others. Maybe you will stumble across a use that you will want to share with us one day. Fragrance Oil Express
