Some Home Lighting Tips With Feng Shui

A properly lit home is necessary for many reasons. It not only makes the home seem alive, but it also brightens up the home. It can emphasize the good points of the room and take attention away from areas you don't like. But lighting goes beyond that, it can bring a good energy into the home. Here are a few home lighting tips with feng shui that can help you utilize that energy.

Feng Shui and lighting are all about chi energy, the yin and yang energy that is around everyone and everything. Lighting balances that energy in a home and the more light the better. Windows play a big part in adding light but there are times when they are not enough, either not enough windows or not enough light coming through. This is when lamps strategically placed around the home help in keeping things balanced and the energy flowing.

Where lights are placed in a house or in an area are very important. Every direction from north to south plays a role in the balance of energy and lights placed in specific areas add energy not only to the home but to a person's life. Feng shui helps to activate or add energy into areas of life when used correctly, and lighting is one way to enhance the energies of specific areas of life.

The south represents fame and goals, a light that illuminates a certain goal or object that is a symbol of your goal activates energy in that direction. When wealth needs to be focused on, a vertical rectangular light in the southeast is used; this type of light represents upward growth. If a relationship needs attention, a small lamp with green or pink that is decorative placed in the bedroom or living room from the southwest side is needed.

A medium light in the north area that is not overpowering can help with career, a blue lampshade is ideal for that. In the northwest part of a room, a spotlight on a globe or even a globe lamp would keep the energy moving in the northwest area and highlight travel and helpful people in your life. In activating knowledge, a small lamp that directly highlights work, such as a desk lamp that can be easily moved, in the northeast should be used.

To promote closeness and warmth in a family, the east is where you want the lighting to come from. This should ideally be in a family room, where the most family activity should take place. A fireplace can also be the source of that light and is considered a great feng shui solution as a fireplace promotes warmth and energy.

When there is a need to focus on children and creativity, a unique light at the west area of the home or room should be used. The family room or a child's room is ideal for this and it can even be something silly. Using medium light ensures you don't over activate the area, in other words over activate the kids.

Every area of life can benefit from proper lighting and the proper use of lighting and lamps. Decorating with the idea of the right feng shui solution can help incorporate the right balance of chi energy, keeping the yin and yang balanced in a home. A little extra of light in one part of a home is sometimes all that is needed to activate energy in certain areas of one's life.
