There are two processes of making soap the cold process and the hot process. Now, soap making hot process is the technique that dates back to the dark ages when they used to boil soap in vats over open fires. Here, heat is applied with the use of a double boiler, a microwave, an oven, or a crock pot in order to accelerate saponification. The soap is thoroughly cooked until saponification is complete.

In order to make an HP (hot processed) soap, you will need 15 oz. palm oil, 5 oz. coconut oil, 2 oz. sesame oil, 2 oz. shea butter, 1 oz. castor oil, 3.49 oz sodium hydroxide (6% superfat), 9 oz. water, and 1/2 teaspoon of borax dispersed in water before adding lye. After the saponification process has been completed, let it cool for approximately twenty mintues. This will help prevent fragrance or essential oils from flashing off such as when the soap is hotter than the evaporation point of the fragrance oil.

Add approximately 1 oz. of sunflower oil and stir it in before adding the fragrance. The extra oil will eventually evaporate or meld with the soap within 24 hours of unmolding. Spoon the soap into your plastic molds, making sure that you disperse any air bubbles that may form. Once the mold is full, place a piece of plastic wrap over it and gently use your fingers and the palm of your hand to move the soap where you want it.

Wait five to eight hours before beginning to unmold your soap. Press on the bottom of each cavity gently until you are able to see an air pocket forming between the soap and the plastic mold. Follow the air pocket around with your fingers to enlarge it, and wait until the soap pops right out of the mold.

You see, soap making hot process is not as complex as it seems to be. You simply have to prepare the right ingredients, and follow simple instructions carefully. In other words, what youve read is how you do it. This is how hot process soap making is done.
