So many coaches, which one's best for you?

If you’re looking for a coach with which to impress your gal or your friends, you have a wide selection. True, all coaches hire are expensive, in fact if you’ve got deep pockets and consider buying a single-decker coach, it can cost you over £180,000 while a double-decker can set you back by £230,000. And, they are expensive to maintain. It will take you about 10-13 miles for every gallon of diesel, plus you will have licensing of the vehicle to take care of. But if you’re in this business, you’ll soon find that to transport a
large number of people, this is the best and most cost-effective means of getting around.

Standard coaches: Then, there are standard coaches hire which are mere vehicles or buses without any extra facilities such as toilet, drinks or reclining seats. They are best used for short distances.

Full size coaches have a seating capacity of about 49-57 passengers.

Executive coaches: Used for long distances, these coaches come replete with 44-58 reclining seats, toilet facilities, air conditioning, TV and video player, hot and cold drinks, curtains and double glazed windows. These coaches

Corporate coaches: Also called Team Coaches, these vehicles are an extension of the executive class coach with all its amenities fewer seats that have been replaced by tables, giving passengers more leg room for more comfort. Here, seating is as low as about 16-34, but its enhancements include leather seating, drinks and food counters and mobile kitchens, apart from laptop power points. Considering these facilities, they cost more and are not conducive to carrying the rush hour traffic.

Double-decker coaches: A double-decker is also an extension of an executive class vehicle with a seating capacity of about 68-77. Here, the upper deck is for seating, while the lower deck comprises a mix of tables and seating. The facilities here include sleeping units, dining and mobile kitchen units.

Small, mini or midi coaches: Seating in these coaches varies from 16-35 seats. However, the majority of the seats here resembles the standard class coaches and is narrower than the full size coaches, thus giving the impression of cramped space. You might think that due to the constricted seating space, these coaches are not widely used, but think again because these coaches are very popular with day trippers or party goers. So, you can imagine how widely used they are. Besides, of course, they are easily maneuverable due to their compact sizes.

Disabled access coach: Though scarce, these coaches come in several sizes such as small, mini or midi coaches. They are often specially fitted with a tail lift at the back of the vehicle to facilitate their specialized passengers. However, you can also find full size coaches with a side lift that can let wheelchair bound passengers remain seated to their wheelchairs, which remain locked to the coach floor. Each coach makes room for six such passengers and are in huge demand in this sector. For such facilities, these coaches are priced accordingly.
