So You Are A Plus Size?

By:

"I'm not going to go shopping and buy something that I think will make me look good until I lose weight. If I buy something that fits me now, and then I lose the weight, then these clothes won't fit me anymore!"

I couldn't DISAGREE more.

For over 30 years I worked in dressing rooms with women and heard them say I'm not going to buy anything new when I'm this heavy. But that is actually counter-intuitive to what will help you lose weight. Here's your test.

Haven't you had a day when you felt a bit slender, energetic and sassy? If you paid close attention to your behavior on that day, I doubt you over-ate. I bet you ate LESS. You FELT GOOD. Never underestimate FEELING GOOD. Those are honest, pure, good feelings.

So you're a "PLUS SIZE?" So does that mean you can't look pretty? Does it mean you can't put your best foot forward? What would happen if you got all dressed up today and went to work looking and feeling pretty, put-together and just a bit more confident? Does having weight to lose mean you don't care about your appearance and how you feel? Being a "PLUS SIZE WOMAN" can't hold you back from anything that makes you feel better.Yeah, I know I sound crazy to some of you. Please test drive this before you discount the concept.

Here are a few ways to test my idea, and I'll break the trials down so you can pick the level at which you are comfortable.

If you're really uncomfortable dressing up... just put on your favorite outfit that you already own, add a bit more make up, and spend some extra time on your hair.

If you're comfortable dressing up, then go buy a new item that is a bit outside your comfort zone (a SMALL stretch), and a higher heel (even just a little).

If you own fashion in your heart and love to dress, then go get a personal shopper (they're free at major fashion retailers), and find some new sassy looks.

Have you tried lingerie that makes you feel a bit sexy?

There is a line in the movie Forest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does." Well, beautiful is as beautiful does. So go be as beautiful as you can, then again, until the joy of FEEING beautiful becomes a habit.

And by the way, everything we do can become a habit. Our overeating is just a habit. My challenge and the focus of everything I ask of you regarding weight loss is to create new more GOOD FEELING habits. If having pretty nails makes you FEEL better about yourself, you make regular appointments, don't you?

So make appointments for other things that make you FEEL good. Make an appointment with a personal trainer to see if there is a workout you could feel comfortable with. Make an appointment with a makeup artist to find a quick and easy routine that you know you can stick to for a while that enhances your best features.

HAVE SOME FUN FEELING GOOD! If your day is filled with a lot of GOOD FELLING things, you will and must, change, shift and ease into a new way of looking at yourself and the world you are creating.

I have confidence in this movement forward in your world, and that it can take you from "PLUS SIZE" to a better size quicker than any diet.
