Snuggle Up To An Easy Care Gel Fireplace

Many homeowners long to have a cozy fireplace to snuggle up to on a cold evening. However, once they start investigating what's involved in putting in a fireplace, they soon become overwhelmed. It's a major construction job which requires ripping out walls and cutting a hole through your roof for the flue. There is also a lot of upkeep required, especially for a wood burning fireplace. All is not lost, however; now there's a simpler approach to installing a fireplace in your home. It's called a gel fireplace, and it could prove to be just the thing for people who aren't willing to tear apart their home for the sake of a fire.

Ever more people are opting for this modern style of fireplace, and there are some excellent reasons why. Cleaning up after the fire requires very little effort because it doesn't produce fumes, smoke or soot. No more hauling wood in from the cold or cleaning up messy ashes. You won't have to get a wide range of fireplace tools and accessories in order to keep up the unit. Simply light a can of fuel and instantly enjoy the warmth of a fire.

A gel fireplace is totally different from a traditional electric or wood burning fireplace. It produces fire by burning a gel derived from grain alcohol. The gel burns cleanly and produces an actual flame with none of the usual mess. Gel fireplaces normally hold three fuel cans, with each container burning for approximately three hours. It even makes the crackling noise of a wood burning fire and there are scent sticks for sale that you can add to the containers.

There is no construction necessary for setting up a gel fireplace and no hookups required. Once you bring it home, it requires under an hour to put together and can be located in any room of your house. It is easy to move it to a different location whenever you wish. Some products can even be hung from the wall. Another alternative is to buy a special insert for your current fireplace which permits you to burn the gel canisters. This means you can still make use of an element of your home which is probably very attractive, without having to worry about the mess involved with a normal fire.

There are no fumes or smoke released by a gel fireplace. However, they do release a tiny amount of carbon monoxide into the air, although the amount is so insignificant that there is no cause for alarm. You can rest assured that this type of equipment must pass rigorous safety tests regarding output of this gas.

An added benefit of gel fireplaces is that upkeep is a breeze. They are also the most energy efficient, affordable heating units on the market. Since there's no ventilation shaft, all the heat remains in the room rather than escaping outside.
