Smokers Are Praising New Smoking Alternative

Smoking and using tobacco products, such as cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and chews, for an extended period of time can lead to devastating consequences. In fact, millions of people succumb to smoking-related disease annually, and cigarette usage is the single most important cause of preventable death in the United States.

This scary information alone takes precedence over the other minor side effects associated with smoking. Shortness of breath, migraines, and a smelly home take the backseat to these more dangerous consequences. After all, smokers are looking at the possibility of death, the possibility of having their lives shortened a few years and suffering through physical pain.

There are a variety of cessation products that smokers can choose from to help them stop smoking. There are, at the current time, nicotine patches, nicotine inhalers, and various prescription medications that target the craving that smokers feel for nicotine. The inhaler and the patch are meant to deliver doses of nicotine to your system throughout the day.

Despite the help these cessation devices provide to smokers, only a small percentage ever reach their one-year anniversary of being smoke-free. The addiction to nicotine is so strong that the scary information about dying of lung cancer, heart disease, or stroke is not enough to persuade them to stop. Try as they might, the addiction to nicotine is just so great that they have to light up one more time. Still for others, the nicotine is just half the battle because they are addicted to the act of smoking itself. They are addicted to the process of lighting up a cigarette and puffing away on it.

There may be hope on the horizon. Smokers are hailing a fairly new product called the e cigarette, which is a battery-powered device that resembles a real cigarette. It mimics the act of smoking also because smokers can inhale a smoke-like vapor at one end and inhale it. The vapor is emitted from the liquid nicotine solution that is heated up by the device and comes in different strengths according to consumer needs.

It is currently not labeled as a cessation device because it has to undergo a whole process that involves testing and classification. Consumers, however, hope that these e cigarettes will receive proper classification as a cessation device soon. Already, former smokers are reporting positive results which often involve quitting tobacco cigarettes immediately or reducing their normal intake of nicotine.
